This class is for all other breeds that are scissored and not stripped.
Dogs must be groomed to fit breed profile such as you would see in the conformation ring. For example a Bichon Frisé is to be styled as per the show ring, not styled in a teddy bear or pet trim.
Other breeds that are suitable for this class are (but not limited to, please ask if you are unsure) … Kerry Blue, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Lagotto Romagnolo, Portuguese Water Dog and Irish Water Spaniel.
Permitted - Sprays, styling gels and chalk (provided the chalk does not rub off on the judges hands in final judging). Styling products are limited to what is usually used in the conformation show ring to achieve breed standard.
Not Permitted - Decorative items, i.e. bows, beads & glitter, with the exception of those permitted in the conformation show ring for the drop coated breed head piece, such as the Yorkshire Terrier Maltese and Shih Tzu.
Poodles may be groomed in any recognised Poodle trim, retro of current styles acceptable

Topknots - Scissored or banded topknots are permitted. All tie-up headpieces must be banded and completed within the time frame of the competition. The headpiece can be banded prior BUT the bands will need to be taken out and re banded during the time frame. Poodles that require Topknot spray ups may have an extra 15 minutes at the end of their allotted time to finish the spray up. Competitors may seek an assistant to hold the dog only during this time. The assistant may only hold the dog and not give any advice or instruction.
Permitted - Moustache & or Beard on relevant retro trims
Holding sprays are permitted provided the judge can comb through the coat.
Sprays, styling gels and chalk (provided the chalk does not rub off on the judge’s hands in final judging) is limited to what is usually used in the conformation show ring and they can be used prior and during the time allocated for the grooming comp only.
Not Permitted - Teddy bear faces (these should be entered in Salon Freestyle)

Permitted and encouraged - a small amount of colour (strictly NO glitter) colour must be pet friendly and cover less than 10% of the groom) , Bows, decorations, accessories - clothing must not restrict the dogs moment and must be able to be removed if requested by the judge during judging
Terriers & more class, suitable for dogs with a wire coat

Model Dog Competition Guidelines
Overview:
This year’s Brisbane Groomathon introduces two exciting Model Dog categories, enabling competitors from across the globe to participate without the challenges of sourcing a live dog.
Category 1: Pre-Done Model Dogs
- Participants may present model dogs that are fully styled, colored (if applicable), and ready for judging.
- Models will not be groomed during the competition but judged on their pre-done grooming.
Pre-Done Classes:
- Pure Breed: Style your model to breed standards.
- Modern (Asian, Salon, Teddy): Showcase any of these trims.
- Creative: Let your imagination shine and impress the judges.
Category 2: In-Ring Grooming of Model Dogs
- Groom your model dog live alongside other competitors within a two-hour time frame.
All participants will compete at the same level, with no distinctions between Novice, Open, or Masters levels.
In-Ring Classes:
- All other Pure Breeds
- Poodles
- Asian Fusion
- Creative
Eligibility:
- Open to all groomers, regardless of experience.
- Each participant may enter one dog per category.
Model Dog Grooming Rules:
- Treat model dogs with respect.
- Keep at least two feet of the model on the table at all times.
- Flipping or turning models upside down is not allowed.
Judging and Awards:
- Models will be judged against other models in the same category.
- Awards will be given to the top three in each category.
Code of Conduct:
- Professionalism and sportsmanship are mandatory.
- Mistreatment or unsportsmanlike behavior will lead to disqualification.
- Follow all instructions from officials and judges.
General Rules:
- The head judge's decision on any disputes is final.
